Trackman A/S is a fast-growing sports technology company that empowers athletes in golf, baseball, football, and American football to get the most out of their game and make their experience more engaging. Their solutions combine radar and vision-based tracking, advanced algorithms, and applications across platforms.
Head of Intellectual Property, Peter Halkjær Jensen, shares how Trackman has strengthened its IP management with Greip.
Establishing a structured approach to IP management
Trackman A/S is a fast-growing company specializing in sports performance tracking technology. In spring 2023, Peter Halkjær Jensen joined as the company’s first in-house IP professional, bringing extensive experience from senior IP roles in major corporations.
“When I joined, we had recently transitioned to a non-discounted entity status before the USPTO, signalling a shift in how to manage and invest in our intellectual property. We recognized the need to gain a deeper understanding of our IP portfolio, control costs, and ensure that our IP strategy aligned with our business objectives.”
Finding a system that meets real-world needs
To support this new strategic approach, one of Peter’s first initiatives was to identify the right patent management system for Trackman’s needs.
“One of the first initiatives was to implement a patent management system to track cases, manage deadlines, and control annuity payments. While many systems exist, only a few met our practical needs without unnecessary complexity or cost. Some offered extensive features that exceeded our requirements and tailoring them to our needs would have meant disabling functionality. Greip stood out by offering exactly the functionality I needed as a one-person IP team — at a competitive price. It simply fits very well for companies of our size.”
Smooth onboarding and accurate data migration
The onboarding process with Greip provided an opportunity to clean and validate existing IP data while transitioning efficiently into the new system.
“Onboarding with Greip was smooth. I had our data organized in a spreadsheet, which allowed me to use the onboarding training as an opportunity for data cleaning. From the available data migration options, I chose the Excel-to-Greip data migration, which worked well. With a portfolio of approximately 200 patent applications and patents, it took less than a week for start to convert the data from Excel into Greip with a high level of accuracy and trustworthiness. If I were to migrate data from another system, I’d still prefer using Excel as an intermediate step for data cleaning.”

Reliable integration and responsive support
After the initial setup, Trackman took the next step by connecting Greip to its annuity payment provider through an API integration.
“A few months later, we partnered with an annuity payment provider that receives weekly reports from our Greip database via API. This integration was also seamless and secure. Both the Greip team and the annuity provider have been responsive, responsible, and collaborative whenever issues arose.”
A scalable and secure solution for every team size
For Peter, Greip strikes the right balance between functionality and simplicity, particularly for IP teams that need a system that grows with their business.
“While Greip is scalable and suitable for organizations of all sizes, I have been impressed with how well its functionality suits also smaller IP teams managing a few hundred patent family members. From a technical standpoint, the system is stable (no downtime) and hosted in a datacenter in the Nordics, which is beneficial from a GDPR compliance perspective.”
